Skin Surgery

Skin lesions such as naevi (moles) and lipomas (lumps of fatty tissue), and skin cancers can be assessed and removed at the Epping practice. All specimens are sent to pathology for diagnosis, allowing us to give the patients the appropriate follow-up.

Surgical procedures are done under local anaesthetic and the wound will require sutures which will be removed at a later date. There will always be a scar where the surgery has been performed but the aim is always to make this as unobtrusive as possible. Scars can take 6-12 months to mature and this is when we see the final result. As with all procedures, complications can occur and these will be discussed at your consultation.

Scar revision (where an unsightly scar has developed as a result of an accident or surgery), treatment for hand or toe injuries and removal of foreign objects from the skin, can also be assessed and, where possible, dealt with at the Epping rooms. More complex surgery will be performed in Concord Hospital or Canada Bay Private Hospital.
